Learn the art of southern cooking and enjoy some mouth-watering food and drinks during the upcoming Smoky Mountain Snowdown. The entire weekend will be packed with fun activities in Townsend, including 3 events at Dancing Bear/Apple Valley, so book your accommodations before they are gone!

Cast Iron Cooking Demonstration & Luncheon, Friday, January 27

Executive Chef Shelley Cooper of Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro will conduct a demonstration of Cast Iron Cooking, and prepare a 3 course luncheon with cocktail pairings. Chef Shelley will be joined by Guest Chefs Travis Milton and Anna Bogle as they prepare everything live! Special guest speaker Ronni Lundy, author of Victuals – An Appalachian Journey, with Recipes, will also join in the festivities and will be signing copies of her book, which features recipes from Chef Shelley Cooper. Advance reservations are required for this event, and will be held at the Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro, located at 7140 East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Townsend. Bourbon Tasting Event, Friday, January 27
5:00 pm
$35 per person plus tax

The Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro will host a Bourbon Tasting Event, to include a variety of regional single & double barrel bourbons. Executive Chef Shelley Cooper will also provide delectable snacks, all included in the price! Many thanks to our sponsor, Knoxville Beverage Company.

Charity Chili Challenge, Saturday, January 28
11:00 am – 4:00 pm
$12 per person, $5 kids 10 and under (plus tax)

Apple Valley Cafe will host this delicious chili cook-off, and all proceeds will benefit the contestants’ charity of choice!

Dinner includes:

  • Chili samples
  • Salad
  • Cornbread
  • All the rest of the fixins!

The Charity Chili Challenge will be held at Dancing Bear’s sister property, Apple Valley Cafe, located at 7138 East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Townsend.
