Greetings to our Friends of the Bear!

As fall begins to weave its magic in the Smokies, Townsend comes alive with events and activities celebrating the season. We’re excited to share some highlights for the upcoming months as the leaves begin their transformation.

  • Great Smoky Mountain Half Marathon & 5K: September 6th-7th, Talley Ho Inn
    Lace up for this scenic race that winds through the beauty of the Smokies.
  • Taste of Blount: September 12th, Theater in the Park (Maryville)
    A delightful event for food enthusiasts—sample the best of Blount County’s culinary scene.
  • Dancing Bear Bike Bash: September 21st, Dancing Bear Lodge
    Our annual Bike Bash is a favorite, and while we’re fully booked this year, we encourage you to keep an eye out for next year’s event!
  • 33rd Annual Fall Heritage & Bluegrass Festival: September 27th-28th, Townsend Visitors Center
    Immerse yourself in live bluegrass, crafts, historical demonstrations, and family-friendly activities.
  • Blue Ribbon Country Fair: September 28th, Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center
    A day of traditional fun featuring competitions, local crafts, and more.
  • Railroad Days: September 28th, Little River Railroad Museum
    Step back in time and explore the rich history of the railroad in the Smokies.

 

What’s New at the Lodge:

  • Online Store Launch:
    We’re thrilled to announce our revamped online store, launching on the first week of September. With expanded selections, you can now shop our full range of merchandise year-round, plus discover seasonal exclusives.
  • Renovations at the Lodge:
    Our office expansion and updates to the Dancing Bean Coffee House are well underway, with completion anticipated by October 1st. Rest assured, the Dancing Bean is still serving up your favorite brews, and our check-in office is temporarily located across the road in a cozy trailer.
