Make Your Smoky Mountain Wedding Memorable With These Tips

One of the most breathtaking natural formations in the United States, the Great Smoky Mountains have provided generations of people with beautiful sites, unforgettable experiences, and a relaxing natural landscape to enjoy the splendors of nature. Because of the mystique and ambiance that surrounds the Smokies have become a destination wedding spot for couples looking to tie the knot in a location that provides natural beauty to their wedding ceremony. Here at Dancing Bear Lodge, our wedding venue is nestled against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains and allows couples to craft a wedding experience that will leave their friends, family, and other guests talking for years to come. In today’s blog, we wanted to share a few tips that we have learned along the way that help ensure that your wedding will be one for the ages. Continue reading below to learn more!

Decorations are Key

Although some couples are a little weary of decorations because of the cost that can be associated with them, with a little planning you can spice up the look of your wedding while still staying within budgets. Many websites, such as Pinterest, provide a wealth of ideas when it comes to wedding decorations and, often times, these decorations can be made relatively cheaply. A few well placed flower arrangements, small table accents, and hand made signs can go a long way in making sure that the bride and groom’s personality is reflected in the overall atmosphere of the wedding. When you’re planning your wedding, don’t be afraid to think outside of the box and go for some decorations that truly reflect who you are as a couple!

Food, Food, Food

While the main focus of the wedding is of course the ceremony, the next thing that everyone remembers is the food. In our experience, the best wedding food is simple, delicious, and plentiful. While many vendors will try to sell couples on expensive dishes with exotic ingredients, we’re of the belief that something as simple as a large pasta bar or a do it yourself taco buffet is just as memorable and fun as a full course of salmon and filet. When deciding on the type of food that you want to serve at your wedding, go with what you feel the majority of your guests will enjoy.

Music

One of the ways people try to save money on a wedding is cutting costs when it comes to hiring a professional music provider. Too often people think they can get away with hooking up their phone to a sound system, hitting play, and letting the night run its course. While this is definitely an option, it is not one that we recommend. Hiring a professional music provider, whether a DJ or a full band, is the best way to go because, well, these people are professionals. They are able to read the room, knowing exactly when to hype the crowd up with some well known classics or bring the mood to a more intimate level with a slow jam that people can sway back and forth to. Remember, you get one shot at making your reception memorable, and music can play a large part in just how memorable that experience is.
