Our Rocky Top Dark Roast has a new story to tell. This season, its journey begins in the misty highlands of Guatemala, where the members of ASPROGUATE, the Asociación Sostenible de Productores de Guatemala, cultivate coffee with care, tradition, and purpose.
Formed in 2014 by a small group of organic farmers from Cobán, Acatenango, and Chimaltenango, ASPROGUATE has grown into a thriving collective rooted in sustainability. These producers do not just grow coffee; they tend the land like a legacy. They study soil health, protect shade trees, and build natural barriers to prevent erosion. More than half of the association’s members are women, and each farmer is paid fairly for their craft, ensuring every harvest supports families and futures alike.
At elevations between 1,400 and 2,200 meters, these highland farms produce coffee that is balanced, versatile, and deeply satisfying. When roasted dark for our Rocky Top, the cup reveals layers of milk chocolate, brûlée orange, toasted almond, and agave sweetness, making for a smooth, full-bodied roast with a subtle spark of citrus that lingers like mountain air at sunrise.
Just as the Smokies shape the rhythm of our days here in East Tennessee, these Guatemalan mountains shape the flavor in your cup. The result is a connection across landscapes, two regions defined by their peaks, their people, and their quiet resilience. Rocky Top Dark Roast is not simply bold. It is grounded. It is enduring. It is a coffee that honors both where it is grown and where it is shared, born in Guatemala’s highlands, roasted in Tennessee’s hills and meant to be savored wherever the morning finds you.
